About Explora Atacama

The Atacama Desert stretches from the rugged Pacific coast of northern Chile to the steep Andean slopes of southwestern Bolivia. Famous for its aridity, Atacama is proof of how life can flourish even in the harshest of conditions.

Our lodge in Atacama is located in the oasis of San Pedro de Atacama, on the beautiful Ayllu de Larache, once inhabited by ancient Atacameño families. San Pedro is a beautiful adobe town surrounded by the desert’s most dramatic features: salt-flats, volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, windswept sand dunes and more. See it on the map here.

Enjoy family time and activities for everyone. Opening worlds for children and creating unforgettable moments. I went with my 11-year-old son, and every day there were activities that entertained both him and me. Being disconnected from everything was wonderful. Additionally, the extraordinarily friendly staff made us feel like family and ensured everything went smoothly.

Realizing a Dream in the Atacama Desert An incredible experience from start to finish. ❤️ From the reservation and check-in to the restaurant and its wines, the bar with its chips, drinks, and playlist, to the accommodations with soft and immaculate beds, and especially the entire Explora Atacama team led by Maureen Morrison. The team was always smiling and truly attentive to the guest's well-being. I experienced some discomfort due to the altitude on one of the excursions, but the staff took excellent care of me... as if I were at home! I would love to thank each of the guides, housekeepers, waiters, and drivers, and say that I can't wait to return, this time in the spring! See you soon!

An Excellent Active experience! I chose here as I was traveling solo and wanted to experience the tours without the stress of booking them separately. The hotel, location, ambience and food did not dissapoint, it was exceptional. Please note this is not a luxury, sit around all day, soaking up the sun and having drinks by the pool experience, this is an active luxury experience. You are up at 7AM to go on tours and back by 4, tired but fulfilled. Most times all you can do is shower, eat dinner and go to sleep to wake up for another early morning tour. It was exactly what I wanted as the active part of my trip. The guides are very knowledgeable and work with you to create your Atacama Desert experience. I stayed 4 days, 3 nights and did 8 tours, including Stargazing twice. The food is different and can be often regarded as culinary creations as they focus on using local products and herbs. Some creations were tastier than others. The hotel is clean, the rooms are perfect and there is turn down service everynight accompanied by a sweet and a note. I felt appreciated for my presence and not my money, this is what I want when I choose a luxurious service. I highly recommend Explora.

About Explora in Atacama

  • We recommend a minimum of five nights to have an exploration experience that allows you to deeply discover Atacama, although we are sure that each day of exploration will increase your desire to explore this special territory for more days.

    Six nights are a good alternative to achieve a more comprehensive knowledge of the area and explore the high plateau or volcanoes.

  • At the time of booking you must select a room with either a king size bed or two double beds. Being in the lodge, if you require, you may change your bed, subject to availability and room type.
