José “Pepe” Cruz

José Cruz Ovalle is a renowned Chilean architect and the winner of the 2018 Spirit of Nature Wood Architecture Award and the 2012 Chilean National Architecture Award. His works are distinguished by the management of space and light in contrast to the rationality of the wooden structures in his designs.
His expertise and knowledge are evident in the construction of the Explora hotels in Torres del Paine, Rapa Nui, Valle Sagrado, and El Chaltén, as well as in the restoration of the Explora hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
