The nearest airport is Comandante Armando Tola International Airport in El Calafate, located 137 miles from El Chaltén.

• Connecting to El Calafate via Buenos Aires: Upon arrival at Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport, take a connecting flight to El Calafate. From there, you’ll embark on a 137-mile (220 km) scenic drive to El Chaltén, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours.*Flights are primarily from Buenos Aires, with a non-stop travel time of approximately 3.5 hours to El Calafate. Airlines operating this route include Aerolíneas Argentinas, Jetsmart, and Flybondy.
• By Vehicle from El Chaltén: If you’re traveling by private or rental car, make sure to download the directions and Google Maps route before starting your journey. The distance from El Chaltén to our lodge is 10.5 miles (17 km).

• Connecting to El Calafate via Santiago: Upon arrival at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, take a direct fly to El Calafate in Argentina with SKY Airlines, which offers two weekly flights. If you arrive in the afternoon, we recommend staying overnight in El Calafate. We will arrange to pick you up the following day according to our pre-arranged schedule.
   
• Connecting to Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales via Santiago: Upon arrival at Santiago Arturo Merino Benítez Airport, take a connecting flight to either Punta Arenas or Puerto Natales. Cross into Argentina via the Río Don Guillermo crossing to reach El Calafate in Argentina. Our team will meet you there and transport you to Explora in a van.
• Connecting to El Chaltén via Explora Torres del Paine: From your stay at Explora Torres del Paine, you can travel with us to Explora in El Chaltén. The journey takes approximately eight hours, with a stop for meals and rest along the way. This service is part of our Explora Connects program and incurs an additional cost, which varies depending on the date of your stay.

Below, we share the schedules for in-out transfers.

Transfer on arrival to El Calafate:

• El Calafate Airport: Free shuttle service from El Calafate Airport to Explora El Chaltén is available at 12:00 PM and 4:30 PM.
• Hotels in El Calafate: Free shuttle service from hotels in El Calafate to Explora is available at approximately 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM.*Last-minute flight changes made within 24 hours of check-in may incur an additional fee if a special transfer arrangement is required.

Transfer on departure:

• El Calafate Airport: Departure from the hotel at 8:00 AM, with arrival at the airport by 11:30 AM.
• Hotels in El Calafate: Departure from the hotel at 8:00 AM, with arrival at your destination by 12:00 PM.

If  needed, you may also opt for a private transfer, which has an additional cost. For availability, please contact your reservation executive or get in touch with reserve@explora.com prior to arrival.

We provide ground transportation by van between Torres del Paine and El Calafate on select days from October 2024 to April 2025.

Travel Between Torres del Paine and El Calafate:

• Private Service: Available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Advance booking required.
• Shared Service: Available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for USD 350 per person (minimum 2 people required).

The private service must be booked in advance and availability confirmed with our reservation team.

The trip between Torres del Paine and El Calafate covers 374 km (232 miles) and takes approximately 5-6 hours.

• Limited spaces.
• The transfer service only includes passenger pick-up and drop-off between hotels in El Calafate, Argentina and Explora in Torres del Paine, Chile.

• Transfer is subject to the calendar between October and April. For other required dates, consult for private transfers.
• Explora does not respond for delays that may occur due to border crossings or road difficulties.

We provide ground transportation by van between Torres del Paine and El Chaltén on select days from October 2024 to April 2025.

Travel Between Torres del Paine and El Chaltén:

• Travelers who combine their stays at Explora Torres del Paine and Explora El Chaltén can make the one-way trip at no additional cost on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays.
• The trip between Torres del Paine and El Chaltén is 402 km (250 miles) and takes approximately 8-9 hours.

• Limited spaces.
• The transfer service only includes passenger pick-up and drop-off between Explora Torres del Paine in Chile, and Explora El Chaltén in Argentina.

• Transfer is subject to the calendar between October and April. For other required dates, consult for private transfers.
• Explora does not respond for delays that may occur due to border crossings or road difficulties.

Check-in: Check-in takes place after 13:00 p.m.
*We recommend arriving at noon for an afternoon half-day exploration.

Check-out: Check-out must be at 10:00 a.m.
* We want you to make the most of your stay, so we offer the option of a half-day exploration on your check-out day, as long as your flight schedule allows.
